What to Expect

Providence Financial Office

Be at peace

Most people are confused about what financial planners “do.” We think by clearly explaining how we work, you can be at peace about what to expect.

No charge to meet

Our process begins by simply talking together. We do not charge prospective clients to meet with us as they are determining whether or not they want to work with us.

  • Meeting ONE

We generally meet 3-4 times before making any recommendations.  At meeting ONE, we ask a lot of questions about you, your lifestyle, your goals, and you do most of the talking.

  • Meeting TWO

We call this our “Financial Education” meeting and here we do most of the talking. We have found a way to concisely educate you on virtually every financial product available in less than an hour.

  • Meeting THREE

By this time, we will have poured over your financial documents and will be in the position to give you a recommendation to consider. We will deliver your Lifetime Income Plan for the first time. You will now have the education and the information to make decisions for yourself, with us as your Guide.

When you become a client

Through our meeting process, you will be able to decide if you want to work with us or not. You are under no obligation along the way and will pay no fees. If you choose to work with us, you will know exactly how the plan works and what the fees are, if any. We then take care of the on-boarding process and handle the secure transfer of your accounts to our firm.

Common Questions:

  • Am I an ideal client for you?

We have clients who are in their 20s and in their 90s.  Some people need full planning, others just need help with a transaction. When we meet, we can decide if we are a good fit for each other.  We particularly specialize with people who are near, or in, retirement.

  • What happens to my money?

We do not hold any of our client’s assets at Providence Financial, LLC.  We work with institutional money managers, insurance companies, and hold brokerage account assets at TD Ameritrade, Fidelity, and Charles Schwab.

  • Why are there so many initial meetings?

We’ve been at this a long time, and everyone is different. We have found that it takes time to truly understand your goals and concerns. We are not “brokers” who simply recommend products.  We are planners who focus on the big picture – and that takes time.

  • How can I trust you?

Trust takes time to develop, which is why we have several meetings initially before deciding to work together. Nearly all our business comes from referrals. We take our responsibility very seriously and that’s why years ago we changed our legal status to the highest fiduciary and ethical standard in the industry. You can read our Firm Brochure which provides complete information about our company:

  • How much do you charge?

Only in rare circumstances will there be a direct charge to you for meeting with us. We are paid through commissions and fees on the services we offer, which we will discuss with you before any decisions are made.

  • What legal or tax implications will your strategies have?

While our extensive experience has made us familiar with the effects of our offerings, we are quite happy to meet with your accountant or lawyer free of charge to ensure everyone’s comfort and understanding of our strategies.
